Coronavirus affects the respiratory system of humans. They can cause the common cold, bronchitis and pneumonia, and other respiratory-related syndromes. Research shows that mice, rats, dogs, turkeys, horses, and cattle can be infected by a coronavirus, and these animals can convey coronavirus to humans.
The first coronavirus was discovered in 1937. Researchers found coronavirus was causing bronchitis in birds. In 1960 this virus was found in the nose of people suffering from the common cold. Humans are mostly infected by coronavirus during winter and springs. People suffering from coronavirus transmit this infection to other persons.
Symptoms of coronavirus infections are:
- Sore throat
- Runny nose
There is no proper cure of coronavirus, but self-care and over the counter medication can be helpful. Following steps should be taken
- Take full rest
- Avoid going outside
- Use masks
- Avoid smoking
- Use a clean humidifier
- Take pain killers like acetaminophen, ibuprofen, or naproxen
This virus can be detected by taking a sample from mucus or blood and by testing it in the laboratory.
Types of coronavirus
There are different types of coronavirus present, and every virus has a different effect on health.
Common types of coronavirus are
- 229E Alpha coronavirus
- NL63 (alpha coronavirus)
- OC43 (beta coronavirus)
- HKU1 (beta coronavirus)
- COVID-19 (Novel coronavirus)
COVID-19 (NOVEL coronavirus)
The novel coronavirus is identified first in 2019, Wuhan, a city of china. Almost 75000 people are infected with novel coronavirus, and now this novel coronavirus is spreading in other countries. WHO (world health organization) declared health emergency worldwide due to novel coronavirus. Strains are founded in the USA, and many people are expected to get infected due to the spread of the virus.
COVID-19 is linked with the seafood market and animals. There is a theory that humans are getting infected with COVID-19 (NOVEL coronavirus) due to animals and birds, but the latest results show that those people who have no connection with animals are also getting infected with this.
Director of WHO told in a media briefing that COVID-19 (NOVAL coronavirus) is fatal and dangerous. There are few or no symptoms in affected persons, and symptoms vary from person to person. Common symptoms include cough, breathing issues, and Fever. The scientist is trying to develop a vaccine for this virus, but still, there is no treatment to treat this virus.
SARS was a disease caused by the SARS coronavirus and can lead to life-threatening pneumonia. In 2002 started to form southern china and spread around 24 countries. SARS coronavirus can cause infection in both upper and lower respiratory tracts. Its symptoms include diarrhoea, chills, dry cough, and aches. SARS can cause heart, liver, and lung failure. The mortality rate was about 10%. This was controlled in2003. Most people were adults and over age who did not recover from SARS coronavirus.
This was another type of coronavirus that spread in 2012 from Saudi Arabia and then infected other countries. This was a severe respiratory disease. Symptoms include fever, breathlessness, and coughing. It was 35.2% fatal.
How is coronavirus transmitted?
Coronavirus can be spread in the following ways
Cough or sneeze if the mouth is not covered
Physical contact with an infected person
Touching those things which are in use of the infected person
Small children, older people, or above 65 and pregnant women are at considerable risk. Infected persons should stay at home and don’t travel.
